The University of Fort Hare is currently recruiting personnel into the ICT Department as Operations and Service Manager. Kindly read the details as provided below to confirm whether or not you do qualified before applying.

Duties of the Operations and Service Delivery Manager:

  • The ICT Operations and Service Delivery Manager oversees a current post structure of 30 highly technical and specialized workers, facilitates meetings, and ensures that systems and services satisfy user requirements.
  • Implementation of ICT projects, within budgets and time frames.
  • Provide leadership to Information Technology department and ensures that all security, I.T. policies, regulatory and quality assurance standards are complied with.
  • Tactical implementation of strategy, formulate budget and monitor it, plan for migration of systems, and manage projects for implementation.
  • Ensure that service level/operational level agreements are met at all times, & align priorities of ICT projects according to the institutional scorecard;
  • Ensure that sufficient capacity is available at all times and involved in problem identification and incident resolution
  • Ensure an appropriate career developmental path for ICT staff.
  • Facilitate the ICT needs of all University units and assist them in meeting those needs, purchase and contract ICT resources and services as necessary.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends to ensure alignment of ICT to the business needs, and ensure minimal downtime on all network and server resources.
  • Manage backup processes to ensure audit compliance.
  • Coordination of technical support teams to ensure timely resolution of problems.
  • Document and implement appropriate disaster recovery procedures.
  • Interpret policy for implementation in the working areas Serve as the main contact between ICT services providers and users of ICT.

 

Qualifications and Certifications:

University Degree in Information Technology management, BSC Computer Science, or equivalent (NQF level 7), as well as all of the following certifications:

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (CobiT 5), and
  • Project Management.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 8 years’ experience in management of ICT in the tertiary education environment.
  • Good knowledge of computer and information systems
  • Working knowledge of ICT legislation & regulations.

 

Other Special Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills to motivate and encourage the workforce.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with users.
  • Strong leadership skills and be knowledgeable about information technology and systems in use at the University.
  • Team oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work under extreme and sustained pressure.
