Here are the details of the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences at the University of The Gambia (UTG):

The School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences is critical to addressing the health sector needs of the country especially in prevention and curative medicine. It also engages in research on tropical diseases and medicine and is located within the premises of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

The school is comprised of three departments. These include:

  • M.B/ Ch.B. Medicine
  • BSc. Nursing and Reproductive Health (and/or concentrations in Midwifery)
  • BSc. Public and Environmental Health

Tuition Fees

Below are the tuition fees for the various department of the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences at the University of The Gambia (UTG).

M.B/ Ch.B. Medicine

Tuition Fee

The annual tuition fee is D40,000 for Gambians and $ 4,950 for international students. Students have the option of paying the whole amount or half of the amount per semester (D20,000/$2475).


BSc. Nursing and Reproductive Health (and/or concentrations in Midwifery)

Tuition Fee

The annual tuition fee is D36,000 for Gambians and $ 3,750 for international students. Students have the option of paying the whole amount or half of the amount per semester (D18,000/$1,875).


BSc. Public and Environmental Health

Tuition Fee

The annual tuition fee is D36,000 for Gambians and $ 3,750 for international students. Students have the option of paying the whole amount or half of the amount per semester (D18,000/$1,875).

It is worth noting that, University of The Gambia (UTG) only allows students that pay at least 40% of the due fees to sit to examinations. These payments can be made at any of the various Trust Bank Ltd. Branches across the country. The university is notified of this payment and you’re cleared to attend classes and sit to the examinations.
