Application as an Associate Lecturer or Lecturer
Applications are invited for the above position in the Discipline of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Qualifications:
For the position of lecturer, the following requirements are necessary:
- A PhD in Speech Pathology and Audiology or Speech Pathology
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist or Speech Therapist
- A minimum of two years clinical experience in Speech Pathology and Audiology or Speech Pathology
- At least 2 publications in past 2-3 years
- Track record of competent teaching preferred
- Record of service would be an advantage
For the position of associate lecturer, the following
requirements are necessary:
- An undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology or Speech Pathology and Audiology
- A Masters degree in Speech Pathology or a related discipline
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Speech Therapist or Speech Therapist and Audiologist
- A minimum of two years clinical experience in Speech Pathology and Audiology or Speech Pathology
- An interest in pursuing a career in academia, with intent to register for a PhD within the next 6 months, and the ability to make substantial progress towards PhD completion within 3 years of registration
- A track record of publication of prior research and presentation at local an international would be an advantage
- Track record of competent teaching and/or clinical supervision preferred
- Record of service would be an advantage.
Duties of the Associate Lecturer or Lecturer:
These will include:
- lecturing undergraduate courses in Speech Pathology;
- clinical supervision of students in the under-graduate programme;
- research supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and
- administrative duties in the Department and School.
