The Directorate of Strategic Management Support has a
permanent position for a Deputy Director at Pretoria Campus.
NB: The position has been identified as a promotional
position and is intended for permanent and fixed-term contract internal
candidates from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Technology in
the university.
Critical Performance Areas
- Study relevant and recent publications and trends
- Compile strategic planning frameworks to support/develop decisions made by management
- Perform environmental scans/analyses to determine national & international expectations/trends and assist in determining strategies to implement or combat.
- Identify key factors & determine possible implications & course of action
- Do futuristic projections based on models, stats or trends.
- Interpret trends, stats, possibilities & alert management accordingly
- Assist in business plan & strategy development
- Study factors (e.g. market forces, schooling systems, public/client expectations/image) that may impact on TUT and devise realistic recommendations
- Determine realistic norms & benchmarks
- Develop various scenarios giving pros and cons to assist mngt in decision-making
- Determine consequences of various possible decisions & evaluate possible strategic alternatives
- Creative exploitation of opportunities
- Determine best practice on national & international level
- Benchmark against DoE norms, national & international peers/norms to determine gaps, devise recommendations to overcome
- Liaise with relevant HE stakeholders
- Advise on best practice and implications
- Network on a national and international level with peers
Minimum Requirements for Deputy Director Position
1. Academic qualifications:
- NQF level 9
- (A relevant Masters qualification with a minimum of 180 credits)
2. Minimum Experience:
- 4 years relevant experience at Senior Management/ Specialist/ Professional level
3.

- Knowledge of HE educational systems, management & methodology.
